Presentation Title: Real Energy Reductions from Virtual Servers
According to an EPA report to congress, U.S. data centers consume an estimated 61billion kWH, or 1.5 % of total U.S. energy consumption. How much of an impact do the server consolidation ratios of 40:1 or greater enabled by virtualization really make to data center energy usage? What about reliability, performance, manufacturer support, software licensing, security and new administration requirements for IT staff? And how does an organization prepare for, implement and manage, data center virtualization to achieve optimum results?
